This way you get your white t-shirt white again.

If you bought a nice white Slater t-shirt from us, you will enjoy it for a long time. Unfortunately, white is rather contagious. A clumsy ketchup or a clumsy action with a glass of red wine and those numerous washes make your t-shirt slowly turn from white to dirty grey. A shame! That's why we'll give you a few tips on how to make your white shirt white again.

Greasy laundry

All that washing is of course nice and clean and fresh, but not always conducive to the colour of your clothes. A black sock as a stowaway with your white laundry doesn't help either, of course. To make your white t-shirt white again, you can put a tablet of Steradent (or a private label denture cleaner) in your washing machine. You can also use dishwasher tablets.

Make sure that the tablet does not contain too much bleach or chlorine. These agents affect fabric and that is obviously not good for your t-shirt. Above all, don't touch the bottle of Glorix, no matter how tempting it may be to use coarse artillery to whiten your white laundry. Chlorine makes your clothes yellowish and can even make holes in the fabric. So don't touch it.

White was even whiter

If you have a new white garment and you put it with the rest of your white laundry, you can suddenly see it: your laundry is no longer as white as it seemed. It's not discolored, or gray, but just not as white anymore. There are a few tricks you can use to whiten your white laundry:
  • Put your shirts in a container with cleaning vinegar. Let it soak for a few hours and then rinse it out again. Then wash your shirts in the washing machine in a normal way. You can also add a little cleaning vinegar to the fabric softener's bowl with each wash. The vinegar removes unpleasant odours and stains.
  • Add half a cup of baking soda or soda to the white laundry, and your white t-shirts will shine like new again.
  • Boil water with a few slices of lemon, turn off the heat and soak your t-shirt in it.
  • Dissolve an aspirin in hot water and put your white t-shirt one night a week.
  • Squeeze out a tube of toothpaste, mix it with a cup of baking soda, a quarter cup of salt and 500 ml of white vinegar and soak your white shirt in this brew for 3 to 4 hours. Then rinse it with cold water.

Armpit spots and other yellow spots

If you have been sweating in your white t-shirt, you may have yellow armpit spots. They're almost impossible to get out in the laundry. Bummer! To remove these stains, apply salt and lemon juice to the spots and then scrub thoroughly with a soft toothbrush. Then let it soak in, rinse off and the stains are gone. Prevention is better than cure. These yellow armpit spots are caused by a reaction to your sweat with the aluminium or the perfume in your deodorant. So if you don't want armpit spots to appear in your beautiful white t-shirt over time, use a deodorant without aluminium and/or fragrances. With these tips you should be able to get your white t-shirts shiny white again. Of course it wouldn't hurt to have a few new ones at hand as well. Just in case. Do you think that's a good idea?
