5 tips for wearing an undershirt
You know those moments when the sweat breaks out of you? For example, giving a speech in front of a room of 100 men, or a date with that one beautiful woman? If a lot depends on it, you want everything to go well. With the emphasis on everything! If you've put on your beautiful shirt, it's a shame when dark spots appear under your armpits. There is little chance that the soaked look will ever go into fashion. The solution to this problem is simple: wear an undershirt!
Why wear an undershirt?
Wearing an undershirt has several advantages. One of the most important advantages is perhaps the prevention of sweat stains. An undershirt provides an extra layer of protection. No matter what exciting situation you find yourself in, you'll still look a lot fresher than if you don't wear an undershirt. This also means that you don't have to go to the dry cleaners with your beautiful shirt as often.
In addition, an undershirt provides extra insulation, because the extra layer of fabric keeps your body heat longer. Especially during the cold winter days this is a pleasant side effect.
Unfortunately, there are many different types of undershirts. What are you looking for? What looks best? Do you have to choose a t-shirt with a round neck or a v-neck? Long sleeves or short sleeves? We'll give you five tips on how to find the perfect undershirt for you.
1. Choose a good quality t-shirt
T-shirts are available everywhere. You have them in all shapes and sizes, and qualities. It is important to choose a good quality t-shirt. If you choose for a cheap quality, there is a good chance that your shirt has shrunk after a few washes. A cheap fabric also makes it less beautiful under your shirt, and you can see that. In addition, a low quality t-shirt does not last as long and you will have to replace it sooner. That way, a cheap shirt quickly becomes an expensive one.
2. Make sure your t-shirt fits snugly
Of course, your shirt shouldn't be too tight. That doesn't sit well and it's gonna irritate you. Too wide isn't good either, because that's what you'll see under your shirt and that's ugly and a slim fit doesn't do any good. So make sure your shirt fits neatly to your body. Choose for example a basic fit or a stretch shirt.
3. Round neck or V-neck
If you wear a shirt with a tie, choose a shirt with a round neck. Make sure that the collar is not too thick, because you can see that through your shirt and is not beautiful.
If you are wearing a shirt with the top buttons open, choose a V-neck undershirt. The best thing is a t-shirt with a deeper falling v-neck, because you can't see it under your shirt. Where do you find it? At Slater's! Never, ever, put a t-shirt under it with a round neck!
4. Choose a colour to match your shirt
The color of your undershirt depends on the color of your shirt. Make sure the colors match. A brightly coloured shirt under a white shirt is out of the question, unless you're celebrating carnival.
5. Make sure the T-shirt is long enough
You're supposed to keep your T-shirt in your pants all day long. You don't want to put your undershirt and shirt back in your pants halfway through the day. That's not only annoying, it also doesn't look so charming when a flap is hanging out of your pants. Choose a t-shirt that's about 5 centimeters longer than usual. A shirt that is too long is not good either, because then you will have a big clot of fabric in your pants. Especially when you are tall it can be a challenge to find a t-shirt in the right length. Are you taller than 1.95 m? Take a look at Slater's Long Fit t-shirts. The Long Fit version is 7 cm longer than the regular Basic and is very comfortable to wear.
